Service Bureau or Closed User Group, Take Your Pick

Financial Tradeware offers investment managers and hedge funds integrated software solutions built on the Microsoft .NET platform and connectivity to SWIFT through a member administered closed user group (MA-CUG).

As part of Dharma Holdings, which includes an investment management firm that is a SWIFT member, Financial Tradeware can offer clients connectivity to the secure network.

“I think software vendors should not just provide integrated software solutions but also the tools and services to achieve this integration and automation,” said Alberto Fontana, managing director of Financial Tradeware. “Smaller organizations face not only the challenge of integration between different systems but also between different providers of services and a number of different communication channels.”

His firm offers users a choice of a service bureau or a closed user group. For unregulated hedge funds, which cannot be SWIFT members, this offers a way to use the SWIFT network and not be tied to a single prime broker for service, he added.

“The participants in a MA-CUG can search for the best services on the market and connect to any number of counterparties such as prime brokers, fund administrators or custodians,” he said.

Financial Tradeware has worked closely with Microsoft over the last two years in moving its applications to the .NET Framework, he said.
